"BaconSandwich is tasty." (baconsandwich)

While I was at work, Mrs. Baconsandwich (MBS) and our 2 year old (heretofore referred to as bacon-bit, or BB) had the following conversation:
BB: More chocolate?
MBS: No, sweetie, you already had two chocolates.
BB: Please?
MBS: No.
BB: I said please.
MBS: I know and I appreciate it. But just because you said please, doesn’t mean you are going to get chocolate.
BB: Chocolate please?
MBS: No.
BB: (cries)
MBS: I know you are disappointed. Disappointed is when we want something but can’t have it. And when we are disappointed, we can either feel sad or do something to make us happy.
BB: OK. (still sniffling)
MBS: Do you want to feel sad or do something to feel better?
BB: Feel better.
MBS: OK, what do you want to do to feel better? Colour? Toys?
MBS: Chocolate.
The bacon-bit cracks me up. I suspect when her and her younger sister (currently 3 months old) get older, they are going to be quite the pair.

Haha I am going through the same stuff right now, its a trip. They’re at the point that they’ve gotten smart enough to (thankfully usually poorly) manipulate...

She walked right into that one. Here is a sample conversation between my twin boys:
Twin 1: I think I’m allergic to cats.
Twin 2: Okay, let’s get a cat and see if you die.

Hahaha! That sounds like many conversations we’ve had with now 4-year old shop teacher jr, aka hurricane-daughter. She and her sister, who is almost two, make quite a team.

When I was little I used to say, ‘mum I want chocolate’, she’d reply, ‘I wants never get’, then I’d say, ‘okay mum, I need chocolate’.

The other night, to convince her to take some Tylenol, she demanded four candies. Not only is she getting smart, she’s getting better at bargaining...

Ah, parent life. My girls are 4 and 1, the attempts at parental manipulation are constant.

That’s awesome. How far into 2? My first is about to turn two in a month’s time, he can not carry on such a conversation. It mostly comes out as a few actual words mixed with what I can only describe as another language.

My 18 month old is already doing well at the bargaining/negotiating game. He walked into the toilet and took the soap while asking for UmUms (food - in this case a cookie). So I had to bargain a cookie to get soap to wash my hands...

Wait until later. I can always tell when my teen wants new bike parts (he’s a triathlete) because he magically starts helping around the house. It’s usually 3 days of assistance before he springs the ask. My wife and I have started putting an x on the calendar when we notice the behavior just to see if it varies — so far, nope.

Has the bacon bit adopted the bacon, ummm, crumb? as her own? Our daughter and son are about two years apart and my daughter decided that our son was her baby. We had a heck of a time redirecting her “help” into useful things.
“No, sweetheart, you can’t change your brother’s diaper.”
“Momma, have you smelled him? He really needs it!”
“Yes, sweetheart, I will change it in a minute.”

She’s roughly 2 years and 2 months old. Sometimes its hard to understand her, but for the most part she’s pretty good. As near as I can figure, kids are all different. She didn’t start crawling until 9 months, while someone else we know had a kid that was walking by that age.

We have to do a little bit of that on occasion. Sometimes she wants to “help” in the kitchen, when really it’s just easier to get her to do something else that’s less distracting/in the way. Gotta at least give them points for wanting to help, though.

Yeah, that makes sense. Just don’t have a lot of examples to see where he’s at, or if we’re doing something wrong...

Eh, as long as you are doing what you can, I really wouldn’t worry about it. Everyone is different.
